What is Hemp Flower?
Hemp flower is produced by the female Cannabis Sativa plant when it reaches maturity. These flowers can contain a wide variety of phytocannabinoids including cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG). The terpenes and flavonoids in the flower are responsible for the flower’s potent smell, and contribute to the effects produced by CBD and CBG.

Does Hemp Flower have buds?
Yes, flowering hemp plants do produce buds when the hemp flower reaches full bloom. These buds grow in clusters known as cola. These buds are the part of the hemp plant that contain the highest concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes. To the naked eye, hemp buds are virtually indistinguishable from marijuana.

Can you smoke Hemp Flower?
Smoking hemp CBD flower enables you to take advantage of the entourage effect, which is the combined effects of the plant’s phytocannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids—all working together synergistically. Because our CBD hemp flower contains less than 0.3% THC (as required by law) our buds won’t get you stoned.

What are the effects of smoking Hemp Flower?
The effects of smoking hemp flower will vary depending on the strain you choose. A strain high in CBD will support feelings of relaxation and clear-mindedness, while a strain high in CBG will tend to support a productive focus. Smoking hemp flower will not get you high, as it contains very low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is found in high concentrations in marijuana.

Does Hemp Flower contain THC?
The short answer is yes, hemp flower does contain some THC, though our hemp flower strains all contain less than 0.3% THC by weight, as mandated by the 2018 Farm Bill. This low level of THC won’t get you high or stoned. In fact, the lack of THC in hemp flower is what defines the difference between hemp and its cousin, marijuana.

Does Hemp Flower contain CBD?
Yes, hemp flowers are often high in CBD (cannabidiol) and low in THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). These two molecules are known as phytocannabinoids, or cannabis-like compounds found in plants. In hemp strains high in CBG, or cannabigerol, typically less CBD and THC are present. That’s because CBG is the “mother cannabinoid” that turns into CBD and THC as the plant matures. By encouraging higher levels of CBG in the final product, less of the other two phytocannabinoids are present.

Is Hemp Flower legal?
Hemp flower produced by industrial hemp is legal in all 50 states. By federal law, hemp cannot contain more than 0.3% THC. All of the strains of hemp flower sold by Tree Huggers Co-op contain THC levels below this threshold. We have our flower sent out for 3rd party testing to ensure the legality of our buds.
